Depart by "feluccas" (traditional Egyptian sailing boats) and enjoy the
beautiful scenery along the magnificent stretch of the Nile as you sail towards
the unspoiled and exotic island of Basma. Once there, you will become totally
detached from today's boisterous world as you revel in the privacy and the
serenity of the island.
In preparation for lunch, you can be assisted to bake your own tasty pita
bread on the traditional Egyptian clay stove. A special buffet luncheon and
barbecue grill will be set up for you; the only indication that you are in the
20th century! After lunch, wander through this haven of peace where you can see
various citrus and vegetable plantations as well as goat pens and chicken coops.
Your felucca sailors and the staff hosting you on the island will all be dressed
in traditional garments. You too will be provided with galabeyas, traditional
loose fitting garments notably famous for keeping you cool.

Basma Island
Just south of Aswan, where the Nile is at its most scenic, stands Basma Island.
This 10-acre island is a peaceful sanctuary which has been left in its
undeveloped and unspoilt state.
It's a haven of peace covered in citrus
and vegetable planations. Its plateau, which is facing the West Bank of Aswan,
is an ideal spot from which to view the sunset and watch the bird species of
Aswan.
Access to and from the island is by traditional felucca sailboats
or motorboats. Special functions, buffets and barbecues are held on the island
and are totally unique experiences.
